The relationship between success and accountability is undeniable. It gives you the leverage you need to take the actions needed to reach the goals that you want to accomplish, even when you don’t want to.

Having a coach, and the right gym community, in your corner can help provide this leverage. They will keep you accountable when you don’t want to workout, when you are not following your eating habits, or when your not recovering properly from your workouts.
Sometimes, we just need someone to tell us to “chill, take it one day at a time.”
We can’t always control the results we want, but we can control our actions. Having someone to talk to about your process, to report your wins to, to trouble shoot with, and who genuinely cares about your success, is a game changer.
Another important part of accountability is communication. Be clear with your support system about what you want, why you want it, and how they can support you in that. This can be an ongoing conversation; you can learn, and change your mind about what is helpful. Everyone is unique in the amount of support, guidance, and accountability they need. Maybe you want to be reminded every day, or have you coach check in with you once a week; or maybe you just need someone to talk to once a month to make sure your heading in the right direction. Accountability systems should feel like you have a team supporting you, and it is entirely specific to you.
We can attribute almost all of the success in our lives to our support systems. Think about it! Our parents or guardians showed us how to make our beds, wash our hands, and be responsible. Our teachers taught us Math, Science, English and a million life lessons. Our sport coaches taught us to never give up, work ethic, and attention to detail. Have you had a mentor in your life whose support changed your life? If we didn’t have our parents, teachers, coaches and mentors, we may have never accomplished anything because we were too lazy, unmotivated, or had no clue what to do.
As an adult, you get to choose, or create, your own accountability system. Most likely there are amazing people in your life who care, and will support you. But chances are, not all of them know how to do that, or feel comfortable being the tough love person. Luckily, there are coaches and mentors who can guide you along your path into helping you reach your goals. And that is exactly what we want to do at AMPT Fitness. We don’t just want to tell you what to do, but we want to be on this journey with you, to keep you accountable, and most importantly to empower you along your way.
