At AMPT Fitness, we believe that anyone who steps into our gym is an athlete, and we’re here to support them every step of the way. Recently, several of our incredible members took on challenging events, pushing themselves beyond their limits and achieving amazing results. We’re so proud of their hard work and commitment, and today we’re excited to share their stories with you!
First up, Luke and his softball team recently competed in the Special Olympics, taking home 2nd place! Luke’s highlight of the game? A powerful hit that propelled his team forward. Luke has been training with us twice a week, focusing on building his strength, power, and conditioning to stay at the top of his game. He also competes in Basketball and Track and Field through Special Olympics. His determination shows what’s possible when you stay consistent and keep pushing yourself. Congratulations, Luke!
Alexis, along with her teammate Jenn, competed in the team category of the Festivus Games on October 5th, finishing in 2nd place! When Alexis first came to AMPT Fitness, she had just competed in the April Festivus Games, dealing with constant lower back and hip pain, and not placing. We created a personalized program to get her out of pain, build her strength, and prepare her to compete again. It wasn’t always easy, but Alexis believed in the process and stuck with it. Her perseverance paid off in a big way!
On October 6th, Danitzia crossed the finish line at the Urban Cow Half Marathon in Sacramento. Her goal was to get back into running, and together we designed a program to strengthen her body, build her endurance, and improve her running so she could complete the race injury-free. Danitzia trained hard in the gym three times a week, complementing her running routine with balanced strength work to ensure she was prepared. Her dedication paid off as she finished the race feeling strong and accomplished.
Lastly, John John took on the Urban Cow's Double Utter challenge, completing a 5k on Saturday and a half marathon the very next day! This was John’s first major run after taking a short break from endurance running (previously completing a several 100-mile runs!). Over the past 2 months, he’s been training with us twice a week, focusing on rebuilding his strength, coordination, and power to get back to marathon-level endurance. With his eyes set on a 2 full marathons in November, John is already well on his way!
These stories remind us that no matter where we start, consistent effort and a clear goal lead to success. Whether it's competing in a team event, running a 5k, or hitting new personal milestones, our athletes show us the power of commitment
